With the project La Red Anerkennungsberatung Plus (LaRA Plus), La Red offers free counselling on the recognition of qualifications acquired abroad. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus) as part of the „Integration through Qualification (IQ)“ program.
You did not acquire your professional qualification in Germany and would like to work in your profession in Berlin? Then you can or must have your foreign professional qualification recognised through an equivalence test.

Our consultation is free of charge and is available in the following languages: Arabic, English, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish.
Our counsellors will tell you which recognition process and which reference occupation correspond to your qualifications. You will receive information on the procedure and the necessary documents. The counselling will also include information on funding options for recognition.
Who can we advise?
- ✔️People who are already living in Germany and would like to work in Berlin.
- ✔️People who have a university degree (e.g. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) or a professional qualification (comparable to an Ausbildung) of at least two years‘ duration.
Who can we not advise?
- ❌People who do not yet live in Germany. Enquiries from abroad are handled by a dedicated department: Central Office for the Recognition of Professional Qualifications (ZSBA). Please send an email to recognition@arbeitsagentur.de
- ❌People who want to work in another federal state than Berlin. The federal states have different recognition laws. We can only advise on the recognition possibilities in the federal state of Berlin. Please search for your local advice centre here.
- ❌People who do not have a university degree or vocational qualification (e.g. secondary school leaving certificate). If you would like to have your school-leaving certificate recognised, for example if you want to apply to an Ausbildung or University in Berlin, please contact the Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle der Senatsverwaltung für Bildung, Jugend und Familie
Das Projekt La Red Anerkennungsberatung Plus (LaRA Plus) wird im Rahmen des Förderprogramms IQ − Integration durch Qualifizierung durch das Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Soziales und die Europäische Union über den Europäischen Sozialfonds Plus (ESF Plus) gefördert und vom Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge administriert. Partner in der Umsetzung sind das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung und die Bundesagentur für Arbeit.
