SAVE THE DATE: Transnational Conference „Civil Society Strategies against Anti-Muslim-Racism“

Dear interested and active parties,

It has now been a few weeks since the international shift to the right took shape in the EU elections. Although the reasons for the shift to the right are complex and carry their own national specificities, the impact in the fight against anti-Muslim racism is becoming more tangible – amongst others, it moulds private and public debate, it is reflected in the increase in attacks against identified Muslims and determines the spaces that Islam occupies in civil society, both in terms of positions voiced as well as in terms of funding.

We will respond to this development. We cordially invite you to take part in our digital conference “Civil Society Strategies against Anti-Muslim Racism”.

Together we will explore the various options for action and share our specific experiences from national and international contexts. Amongst other things, we will address the following questions:

How are anti-Muslim narratives considered in the election analyses of different countries? What impact will the changing political climate have on the work of civil society actors? How do we respond to shifting democratic structures and how can we organise our work proactively? Can we develop joint action strategies based on our respective experiences?

Date: 18th September 2024 10am – 3pm

Location: Zoom (the event language is English)
